In January 2021, fire razed the Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum in Austria to the ground, destroying a priceless collection of over 200 modern and classic motorcycles along with a number of classic cars which were on public display there.

Located at the northern end of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, crossing from Austria to Italy, this museum was a favourite stop of ours and we were naturally gutted. We felt especially sorry for twin brothers Alban and Attila Scheiber who started the museum in 2016 with 40 motorcycles from their personal collection.

After some extensive and impressive work the museum is scheduled to re-open in Autumn 2021.
As well as the museum the area serves as the toll* booth for the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road and also a rest area with restaurant and refreshments.
*The toll is included in your Moto Ventura Tour price along with all Péage and Vignettes

Once through the toll booth, the Timmelsjoch is a real feast for the senses and as well as

the breathtaking scenery, holds many modern sculptures well worthy of a closer look.
We hope the museum will re-open as planned but in the meantime if you wish to have a preview of the magnificent road why not click on the link below and take a virtual ride with Moto Ventura from our August 2019 visit. A nice sedately paced crossing in to Italy from Austria
