Stuck indoors or in the office and fancy a very quick getaway - and I mean right NOW?
Well how does riding the Mighty Stelvio Pass sound? Ok, let's go then...

The two 'Moto Ventura' links at the bottom of this page will take you to our onboard footage of the Stelvio Pass in Italy so allow me to introduce them briefly and then click and 'enjoy'.
The Western Ramp
This section runs from the beautiful town of Bormio to the top of the infamous Stelvio Pass and is the less well known side. The western side is often referred to as 'The Beauty' with the eastern side being 'The Beast' and is, in the opinion of many, the better riding road of the two and I have to agree. It is faster smoother and more 'pleasant' though it does lack the additional bite and drama of it's Eastern Sibling.
Shot early morning on August 2nd 2019 we enjoy a climb to the top of Stelvio, in preparation to descend the Beast in the East.
The Eastern Ramp
After climbing the Western Ramp we descend the most famous & well known section of this amazing Alpine Road, the Eastern Ramp. With its 48 hairpin turns we ride onboard with Moto Ventura Tours on their 2018 BMW R1200GSA from the very top, descending to turn '42'. Filmed mid-morning on August 2nd 2019.
Arguably not the most rideable road, the Stelvio is a must for dedicated petrol heads and it is certainly one of the most dramatic alpine roads attracting admirers from around the world. It is something that all bikers should accomplish at least once in order to give that knowing 'nod' when chatting about alpine roads with other bikers, Indeed the Stelvio almost has legendary and mythical status among the motorcycle community.

It does remain a road of mixed feelings, conflict and discussion. Some prefer to ascend the Eastern Ramp, some to descend arguing their preference passionately. We understand the place the Stelvio Pass has in motorcycling bucket-lists and we aim to include it when ever we are in the area.
Final points to note - Plan your visit. Snow and Cycle Races such as Stelvio Bike Day may scupper your plans to ride the Stelvio. Check the webcam and local report to see if the road is passable (usually mid May onwards) and lastly, if you are at the top, take your time. Buy a snack, walk about and take some photos. There is no hurry so sit and enjoy the view for a while. It is breathtaking.
Bike day 2022 - Stelvio is CLOSED to motor vehicles on Saturday 27th August 2022
